Wernher Von Braun - killing machine producer with a medal

Wernher Von Braun was a German scientist who was employed by NASA after the WW2 to help U.S. government develop their space program. He was the most deserving person for the Apollo rocket and the landing on the moon. Recently, a place in the US Space and Rocket Center Hall of fame was granted to him. Research Institute at the University of Alabama in Huntsville was also named after him. In 1975 he received The National Medal of Science from the President of the United States of America





Wernher Von Braun was also a German SS-Sturmbannführer, a major. 




His V2 rockets killed more than 9,000 civilians and military personnel in London area.





12,000 forced labourers and concentration camp 

prisoners were killed producing the weapons. This is an image of  German civilians from the town of Nordhausen burying the corpses of prisoners found at the Mittelbau-Dora concentration camp, one of the camps where the V2 rockets were produced.
